ASUU STRIKE:THIS IS HOW NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES NOW LOOKS LIKE DUE TO THE 'ONGOING STRIKE'
On the 9th of March,it'll be recalled that Academic Staff Union Of Universities in Nigeria (ASUU) had announced a General-wide Strike action in a bid to call the attention of the Federal Government to it's demands & agreement earlier signed & documented.This has therefore made the Nigerian Universities a place like Graveyard & Properties & Equipments in the Universities can be seen becoming desolate & deteriorating.
Due to the rampaging scourge of the endemic virus also known as 'Corona Virus',Higher Institutions Of Learning in Nigeria were forced to go on a 'Break' to reduce the spread & curtail the Virus,a decree given by the Federal Ministry Of Education on the 19th of March,2020 by it's Permanent Secretary,Sonno Echono,which has made all Universities,Polytechnics,Colleges of Education in the Country to be on a Shutdown;this also has made the Ongoing strike a Subtle & Underground one.
In a 'On-the-spot' assessment I did,with a Tour to Some of the Federal Universities in Nigeria,the likes of The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB),Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU),Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY),it was discovered that the Vicinities of this Higher Institutions Of Learning has become 'Nothing-to-write-home-about' and some equipments & Materials Being used in these Institutions can be seen becoming desolate & useless. Some Pictures taken on the tour reveals thus;The Vicinities can be seen deteriorating & Messed up,equipments can be seen also deteriorating & spoilingGrasses can be seen overgrowing in Most of the School's Department & Colleges,Grasses Overgrowing on the Inter-locks.
With the reoccurring Emergence of the "Strike Actions" by ASUU and Unresolved reoccurring Issue with the Federal Government,The Question Is;Is "Strike Action" the Only Means the Academic Staff Union (ASUU) can demand for their Needs or Ask for a better Academic Environment/Education System,this reoccurring ASUU strike is becoming 'Shameful' and 'Unwelcomed' at this Era & Century & ASUU should use other means of Negotiation to talk to the Government rather than Frequent Strikes,this is Becoming "Unbearable" at this 21st Century.
